Palm Springs Stories

Last year I was in
Palm Springs shooting an editorial for Passport Magazine.

I had never been there before, all I knew about it was that it was not too far from LA but on a different planet. They were right. Time stands still over there, it was a bit bizarre at first but as soon as all my crew arrived there, things changed drastically.

The three models were cute and funny, my assistant, the make up guy and the stylist never ended teasing each other, we all became a family in a matter of hours.

We spent 3 days shooting from sunrise to sunset, splashing water on each other, visiting amazing villas (original from the 50s), shooting crazy videos that someday we will find on youtube and ending our 'family' trip with great images for my client.

If you are intrigued enough by my story, you can take a peek at the images -----> VIEW PHOTOS

Emile Hirsch Wears White Ribbon at Oscars Red Carpet

I'm loving actor Emile Hirsch from the Oscar Nominated movie MILK for wearing a WHITE RIBBON in protest against Proposition 8, that banned and annulled thousands of same sex marriages in California in 2008 in the name of the 'sanctity of marriage'.

Thanks Emile!

On Valentine’s Day, Binational Gay Couples Struggle to Stay Together

Straight Valentine’s Day ≠ Gay Valentine Day

"This Valentine's Day, thousands of gay and lesbian Americans who have fallen in love across borders must grapple with an impossible choice between being with the person they love and staying in their country," said Immigration Equality Executive Director Rachel B. Tiven.

"These couples simply want the same opportunity to prove that their families deserve to stay together."

COMMENTS About Miley's 'Asian Eyes'

Here are some funny comments to Miley Cyrus doing 'Asian Eyes':

We should all pose behind her as stupid spoiled whores and take a picture!

# Ho Says:

But she feels bad that we’re offended, Margaret. If only we could stop doing that, she’d feel a lot better.

# Stan Says: (this one is a d*#k head)

My Asian Girlfriend loves it when I pull my eyes back to look like her. She knows unlike a lot of Asians, it me wanting to be like her. I admire Asians and I have a desire to be like one. Too bad most think that pulling the eyes back is making fun of them. Maybe if more of you think like my girlfriend then Racism would be a thing of the past. You see if you take it as a compliment then any actual racist would eventually stop doing it because it wouldn’t have the desired effect of making you hate or be embarrassed by your heritage, race, or who you are, but instead be proud and acknowlege that poeple want ot be and look like you because you are smart beautiful, and intelligent people. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

Stan, seriously, STFU.

Also, can you tell douchebags with Chinese girlfriends to stop using the word “oriental?”

MARGARET CHO VS MILEY CYRUS: BRING IT GIRL!

Margaret Cho is so angry at Miley's stupid 'asian eyes' joke (= her stupidity and ignorance ... typical of a spoiled white little girl) that she wrote a whole song to her.

Genius!

I'm waiting for either a live performance or a video!!!

Oh Miley

I am so upset by Miley Cyrus, I think it warrants a song!

Miley Cyrus made some chinky eyes
Standing behind an Asian guy
I don’t know if this should fly
As if there wasn’t enough to despise

I wasn’t necessarily a fan of
Her, her dad, or Hannah Montana
I tend to prefer the songs of Rihanna
Racism against Asians is simply bananas!

Oh Miley!
Chinky eyes make you look wily
prejudice isn’t thought of so highly
it doesn’t make us all smiley

Why is there nothing that Asians can do?
To make fun of other races as easily as you
Why isn’t racism against Asians taboo?
Why are we always so racially screwed!

All you have to do is pull at your face
To make your eyelids resemble our race
This kind of joke has no proper place
Miley Cyrus is a disgrace!

Emiliana Torrini - her time could be now

Have you ever heard of Emiliana Torrini? Icelandic singer (half Italian) who sang the 'Gollum Song' in the Lord of the Rings and critics compare to Bjork?

Google her, or Itune her.

Michelle Obama graces Vogue Magazine cover

NEW YORK - It's official: Michelle Obama is the first lady of American fashion, appearing on the cover of the March issue of Vogue.

Every first lady since Lou Hoover — save Bess Truman — has been photographed for the high-fashion magazine. Mrs. Obama appears wearing a magenta silk sheath dress by Jason Wu, who also designed her inaugural gown.

Vogue's editor at large Andre Leon Talley called his interviews with Mrs. Obama ahead of President Barack Obama's swearing-in ceremony "one of the best experiences of my life."

"Angelina Jolie Syndrom": the Octuplet Mom

By now I'm sure you've heard of this story. Nadia Suleman, unemployed single mother, has 6 children, went for more in vitro fertilization, had 8 babies all at once.

What was a beautiful story of love is now turning into a nightmare as Nadia is accused of being irresponsible and of getting plastic surgery to look like Angelina Jolie 9she also kind of talks like her a bit).

My question is: is this normal? has this become an obsession for her? is this comparable to 'plastic surgery addiction'?

Watch the video, Nadia sounds a bit too naive ... I think

Madonna's new SEX BOOK (19 years later)

I hear people say she looks fantastic in these photos. I think she looks like a 50 yo rich bitch who just bought her new pet, this hot 20-something yo boy. These photos are hot because model Jesus is HOOOT!

Madonna looks like
Monica Vitti (please google this), obvious inspiration. The bleached blond wig reminds me of Betty Whites's hair in the Golden Girls and honestly the concept is old. Madonna, are you out of ideas?

Hollywood Portraits by Annie Leibovitz

I love how simple Annie keeps it in these Hollywood portraits. Not much photoshop, except in the Heath Ledger photo where she 'glued in' Christopher Nolan (Ledger's photo was taken a long time before).

The light, the poses, the set is very simple, I absolutely love that. Meryl Streep's face looks like her age, admirable. No plastic for Miss Liebovitz, thank you Annie.

ANNIE LIEBOVITZ

(born October 2, 1949) is an American portrait photographer whose style is marked by a close collaboration between the photographer and the subject.
